This is a newly created role to provide structure and to the front end of our manufacturingprocess. The Pre Fab APM would take responsibility for the first of our 3 production cells.

1. Pre-fabrication (Sheet Metal)
2. Fabrication
3. Post Fabrication (Assembly and Dispatch preparation)

Increasingly we are driving to use our CNC sheetmetal machinery to support the need forincreased capacity in the fabrication cell. The Sheetmetal area of our factory includes lasercutters, plasma cutters and hydraulic presses, and as we move toward a more CNC drivenapproach to our fabrication is key and growing part of the business and having operationalleadership strength in this area is critical to our success.

Responsibilities

• To ensure pre-fab supports the production schedule in the most efficient and effective manner, feeding the fabrication pens and ensuring material is delivered downstream on time.

• To implement develop and maintain capacity planning and progress monitoring tools.

• To lead the development of the laser, plasma and presses into a well organised and highly efficient pre-fabrication area.

• Work with the other group sites to ensure common practice and the ability to move laser and press work around the group.

• To engage with others at all levels across the business to ensure that the Pre-Fab area becomes highly utilised, and that the full capabilities of the equipment within the Pre-Fab.

• To manage equipment, people and resources in the Pre-Fab area to maximise up-time in the most cost effective manner.

• Taking full responsibility for all aspects of safety within the area

• Being accountable for the quality performance of the product leaving the area

• Delivering the output from the area in line with planned requirements and company targets

• Managing cost within the area, including the management of overtime and accountability for the generation of waste

• Being the line manager for team leaders and operators and taking responsibility for all elements of personnel issues for their team

We’re looking for someone with extensive experience of operational leadership in a high-volume sheet metal subcontract business or similar and who has demonstrable people management and leadership experience. You will need to be a strong and resilient leader with high interpersonal and communication skills.
