Introducing Glide LockPublished on November 28th, 2019
Steelway Brickhouse have recently developed a new locking mechanism concept for the high-security market. The patent applied for mechanism allows for easier operation of the padlock. It’s been designed to accept all of the main padlocks used within the utilities market and has been tested LPS 1175: Issue 7 SR4 rating.
A lot of the issues with padlockable high-security access covers, is the 10-minute test imposed by the BRE. If a certain part of the padlock is exposed and is accessible then the padlock will be vulnerable and can be opened in less than 10 minutes. Hiding the vulnerable parts of the padlock can make it difficult to operate especially in site conditions.
Our design brief when we created this unique locking mechanism was;
- Accept all the major padlocks used in the utilities market
- Padlocks needed to be Interchangeable
- Ease of use for the operators
After several months of prototyping various options and a lot of frustration along the way we eventually ended up with our Glide-Lock mechanism which can be used in our SR4 Flush range and our SR4 of upstanding twin skinned fabricated access covers.
There are a range of
optional extras that are available for these access covers, such as, fall
protection hinged safety grids, demountable barrier systems, powder coatings to
any RAL colour, anti-slip coatings and vehicle loadings to FACTA Class D.
