​Defender Access Covers for pedestrian application

Two Defender multiple hinged cover and frames are to be installed this week by our installation team. The access covers feature a green anti-slip coating, which is specifically designed for pedestrian duty applications or very light vehicles. In this instance, the covers are to be sited in a grassland area and therefore the green coating will also mean they are less obtrusive.

Beneath the covers feature hinged safety grids. The clear openings of these units are 4150mm x 2300mm and 3820mm x 2010mm. For this application, our surveyors dimensionally check the chamber on-site and the Defender is a bespoke design to suit the application and clients requirements.

All of the products within the Defender range incorporate heavy gauge torsion springs for ease of opening by one person. The range incorporates a deep channel frame which is sealed by EPDM or Nitrile and can be drained into the chamber or by weep pipes externally. The beam centres can be adjusted at design stage to accommodate easy access to pipes, pumps or valves within the chamber. We also offer the option to have the safety grids manufactured from open mesh flooring to allow as a working platform within the chamber when the covers are open.

For smaller projects where access needs to be supplied in grassland areas we have a range of recessed covers which can be in-filled with grass or AstroTurf to match the aesthetic surroundings of architecturally designed landscapes.
