FLOORING > SAFE LOAD TABLES RECTANGULAR PATTERN MILD STEEL FLOORING
line

The table below give the safe Uniformly Distributed Loads in kN/m2 for mild steel gratings with plain load bearing bars. For gratings with serrated edge load bearings bars the tabulated loads should be multiplied by 0.75 for 25 mm and 30 mm deep sections and 0.80 for 35 mm and over deep sections.

The loads have been calculated to a maximum stress of 165 N/mm2 and deflections are limited to within 1/200th of the span or 10 mm whichever is the lesser.

Note that loads shown to the right of the blue line are below 5 kN/m2 which is the minimum design requirement for general duty regular two way pedestrian traffic. #The maximum span for 5 kN/m2 uniformly distributed load is stated in the end column for each section.
