Steelway provides solutions to Biomass fuel storage

On a project requiring a unique solution to Biomass fuel storage, Steelway Brickhouse were chosen to survey, design and install a one piece hydraulic operated access cover. Steelway were chosen due to their ability and expertise as a leading manufacturer of non standard fabricated access cover solutions.

The size of the opening required for offloading fuel was 3000x3000mm. Traditionally a cover of this size would be manufactured from multiple cover segments with additional support beams, but due to the requirement for frequent access into the fuel container, a solution for a one piece access cover was required.

Further design requirements included the need for fire tenders to traffic the cover and for surface water not to enter the chamber.

To overcome these requirements a one piece cover was designed complete with hydraulic lifting arms, heavy duty reinforcements and internal frame drainage.
